On the occasion of Chiranjeevi's birthday on Tuesday, Chiru 156 was officially launched. The film will be produced by Chiranjeevi's older daughter, costume designer and producer Sushmita Konidela, under the banner Goldbox Entertainments. The official announcement reads, "A legacy of ruling the silver screen for 4 decades! A personality which evokes a plethora of emotions! A man who is celebrated on and off the screen. After 155 films, now Mega 156 will be a Mega Rocking entertainer. Happy Birthday to Chiranjeevi garu."
Earlier this year, the banner produced Sridevi Shoban Babu, their maiden feature. Sridevi Shoban Babu starred in Santosh Shoban and Gowri G Kishan.
It may be noted that Sushmita has been working as Chiranjeevi's stylist since Khaidi No 150, his comeback film after a eight-year-long stint in politics. This is the first time Sushmita will be producing her father's film, taking the mantle from her brother and actor Ram Charan, who had previously produced Khaidi No 150 and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
Though there has not been any official announcement regarding the story of the film and it's director, there have been speculations that Chiru 156 might be the official Telugu remake of Bro Daddy, Prithviraj Sukumaran's 2022 directorial. The remake is set to have Sharwanand, Trisha, and Sreeleela reportedly reprise the roles played by Prithviraj, Meena and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the original, with Chiranjeevi playing Mohanlal's role.
