Bandla Ganesh's upcoming film Degala Babji is all gearing up to release on May 20. A remake of R Parthiepan's National-Award-winning thriller Oththa Seruppu Size 7, the film will now clash with Dr Rajasekhar's Shekhar.

"I have been waiting to earn the respect of the audience for over 30 years and I am confident that I will get it to the full extent with this film," said Ganesh in a statement.

Directed by debutant Venkat Chandra, Degala Babji is produced by Swathi Chandra. The Tamil language original, written and directed by R Parthiepan, had bagged the Special Jury Award and the Best Audiography award for its sound designer Resul Pookutty at the 67th National Awards.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7 tells the story of an emotionally unstable murder suspect, who explains the modus operandi behind the crimes he had committed against the policemen. The Tamil version, which starred Parthiepan, has received good reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film had also entered the Asia Book of Records for having just one cast member.
