The makers of Ponniyin Selvan have released the video version of the song, Sol, from the film, on social media on Thursday. The song was not featured in the film, though its visuals were shot by the team.

The song features actors Trisha and Sobhita Dhulipala as royals Kundavai and Vanathi from the Chola dynasty, and their camaraderie as they tease other into telling the man of their dreams. The two minute long song is composed by AR Rahmana and sung by Rakshita Suresh. It is written by Krithika Nelson.

Ponniyin Selvan is a two-part film directed by Mani Ratnam. Backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the first part released theatrically in September. The film features an ensemble star cast including Karthi, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Nasser, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, among others. Ponniyin Selvan is based on Kalki’s novel by the same name. The film opened to positive reception and financial success.

The second part of Ponniyin Selvan is scheduled to hit the theatres in 2023.
