Director Raja Karuppasamy's Modha Rathri continues its theatrical run, even as the film has become available on Netflix for audiences. The film, which stars Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles, has won over audiences with its blend of humour and subtle social messaging about the importance of integrity and trust in marital relationships. On Monday, actor Aditi Shankar commended the film.

Taking to her Instagram Stories space, Aditi wrote, "Got to watch this movie now only!!! Ajjoooo my heart MELTED! MELTED! MELTED!"

Modha Rathri hit theatres on August 21, a week before Aditi's film Once More that also stars Arjun Das. The film tells the story of strangers who get into an arranged marriage that neither of them wanted. However, a confession makes them go away from his place on the wedding night, which contributes to chaos among themselves and their families.

Speaking about it, Vettaiyan and Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel wrote, "By peeling apart the absurdities that happen in wedding houses, the film makes every scene land like a needle being pushed through a banana — making you both laugh and think."

He added, "From the story, screenplay, dialogues, direction, cinematography, music and editing to the highly talented actors, everyone has done an excellent job. Just like the film, I am also enjoying the director's interviews." Regarding Raja Karuppasamy, Gnanavel said that he is "a promising addition to Tamil cinema who gives us hope."

Besides Rishikanth and Anishma, the film stars Chetan, Venkatesh, Sangeetha Balan, Bagavathi Perumal, Shelly Kumar, Abdool Lee, Bhanupriya, Karthikeyan DK, Varshini Karmegam, and Sumthra Devi L.

Modha Rathri is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. It has marked the third production venture for the banner, the first two being Pradeep Ranganathan, Mamitha Baiju, and Ashwath Marimuthu's Dude and Ajith Kumar-Adhik Ravichandran's Good Bad Ugly.
