The makers of Pulavar, starring the late Bharathiraja, dropped a teaser on Monday that revealed that the film will hit theatres on September 25, Friday. Written and directed by Murukaiya, the film also has what the makers describe as "an impressive ensemble cast," including actors such as Raichal Rabecca, Hello Kandasamy, Ravichandran, Vetrivel Raja, Poobalam Sandhil, Chaplin Sundar, and Jintha, among others.

The Pulavar teaser hints at a storyline where Bharathiraja's character looks into a murder case. At one point, one character asks about the reason for a murder. And at another point, Bharathiraja's character says, "Why was it done? Who asked for it to be done?" The teaser ends with the lead character saying, "The investigation will go on until the end." One scene shows the actor's character holding someone at gunpoint, although the tone of the teaser is rather lighthearted.

Pulavar has dialogues by Poobalam Senthil. On the technical front, the film has composer Ajmal Khan, cinematographer RV Saran, editor Dhanasekar, and art director A Arunkumar.

It is produced by Sameer Bharat Ram and Kasi Viswanathan under the banners of Super Talkies and White Nights Entertainment.

Bharathiraja passed away in June 10 this year at the age of 84 years. He has directed more than 40 films and starred in about 30 films in his career. He is widely regarded as a pioneer of realistic village-based dramas in Tamil cinema that took the industry out of the studio system. In his illustrious career, the filmmaker won six National Awards and as many Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.

His last work as a director is an episode titled Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal in the anthology Modern Love Chennai. Before Pulavar, he acted in Desiya Thalaivar, which hit theatres in October last year. The upcoming film marks Bharathiraja's final acting appearance on the big screen, according to reports.
