Silambarasan TR's Arasan, directed by Vetri Maaran, is one of the most highly anticipated films in Tamil cinema. Recently, Silambarasan shared an update about the film's release while speaking at an event. The actor said that the film will not have a Pongal 2027 release. Explaining it, he said that they could fast-track the production and ensure a Pongal release, but then, it would compromise its quality. "That would be a major mistake," the actor said, referring to the idea of accelerating the production for release in the festival season.
"Therefore, we have decided to take time and shoot the film properly," the actor said before promising the audience that even if it takes time, the output will make them proud and will have a big impact.
However, Silambarasan said that they will release a special video, titled The World of Arasan, in theatres on Diwali. Recently, the team behind the film had a promo video released in theatres. Silambarasan said that the aforementioned will have footage of what they have shot so far and that the theatre audience will have exclusive access to it.
Arasan has a variation of a screenplay that Vetri Maaran initially wrote for the actor when he was in talks to star in Vada Chennai. However, Dhanush replaced him in the project that underwent major changes. The upcoming film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, Kishore, and Ameer. While Vijay Sethupathi is a new addition to the Vada Chennai universe, the film will have role reprisals from Andrea, Samuthirakani, Kishore and Ameer.
On the technical front, the film has composer Anirudh, cinematographer R Velraj, editor R Ramar, art director Jacki, and stunt choreographer Peter Hein. The film is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner.
