Actor Silambarasan TR shared some interesting details about his upcoming film, Arasan, at a recent event. He said that the film, directed by Vetri Maaran, will make Tamil cinema proud, similarly to how Aditya Dhar-Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar made the Hindi film industry proud. He also revealed that it is no small film and will feature him in multiple get-ups, exploring his character's journey from a young age to being old. "It is a very realistic film shot in several real locations. You all know about Vetri sir; he is a director who seeks perfection," the actor shared.

"It will have an impact similar to how Dhurandhar made everyone watch the film and feel proud of their industry," the actor opined.

For the unversed, Dhurandhar tells the story of an Indian spy (Ranveer Singh) who infiltrates the terrorist network in Pakistan. The film has several fans for its portrayal of gangsters and terrorists in Pakistan and its exploration of Lyari and its politics. Together with its second part, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the franchise earned more than 3000 crore from theatres worldwide.

It is interesting how Silambarasan compared Arasan to Dhurandhar, considering his director Vetri Maaran's indirect take on the Ranveer Singh starrer. At a recent event, Vetri Maaran indirectly suggested that the Hindi film has propaganda. "Nowadays, everything is turning into propaganda. And propaganda has the power to influence memory. Memory is so fickle," the filmmaker said at the time. Vetri Maaran never mentioned Dhurandhar, according to a video surfaced recently, but he discussed demonetisation in the context of cinematic propaganda. The Dhurandhar franchise is known for its references to demonetisation and indirect allusion to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's part in the socioeconomic move. It frames demonetisation as a strategic counter-terrorism approach from PM Modi.
