Actor Anand Babu, the son of legendary comedian Nagesh, recently made a public appearance after a long time and raised a special request to the press and media at an event. He asked them not to address him as a superstar. “I am not that big an actor,” Anand shared before adding that his biggest learning from father Nagesh is not to be content with any scene. “If I do a scene, I would keep thinking about how to perform it better. I have always wanted to do so, even today.”

Noting that each film is a milestone for him, Anand Babu asked for the media's constant support for him going forward.

Anand was a prominent lead actor and talented dancer in Tamil cinema of the late 1980s and the 1990s. The actor made his debut with a role in the 1983 film Thangaikkor Geetham, directed by T Rajendar.

He is still best remembered for director Vikraman's 1990 film Pudhu Vasantham, which played a part in cementing his status as a mainstream lead star. His other popular credits are Cheran Pandian (1991), Vaaname Ellai (1992), Putham Pudhu Payanam (1991), and Naan Pesa Ninaipathellam (1993). In the subsequent years, he transitioned to character roles and supporting appearances in films, such as Aadhavan (2009), Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (2018), and Pallu Padama Paathuka (2019).

The actor was last seen in the 2025 film Madharas Mafia Company, directed by AS Mukundan and co-starring Anandraj and Samyuktha Shanmuganatha.
