The next instalment in the Indian franchise, Indian 3, has been confirmed by the makers. Kamal Haasan will return to headline the upcoming instalment, which is written and directed by Shankar.

The franchise began with the 1996 film, Indian, which featured Kamal Haasan as a martial arts practitioner and freedom fighter Senapathy, who resorts to vigilante to root out corruption.
