On Thursday, actor Suriya praised Karthik Subbaraj's film Dorothy, starring Sananth, Rishikanth, and Keerthy Suresh, among others. In an X post, the actor shared that the makers of the film have dared to tackle a subject matter that often goes unspoken in cinema. He also appreciated Karthik Subbaraj for conveying his message in the film in an effective manner. It is worth noting that Suriya starred in Karthik's 2025 film Retro.

Dorothy tells a story of two friends, named Subbu (Rishikanth) and Karthi (Rishikanth). Their upbringing in a world full of violence, caste discrimination, and patriarchy play a part in shaping their identities and worldview. When grown up, one of them is sent to chase the other in a moving story that explores identity, love, and friendship.
Besides Sananth, Keerthy, and Rishikanth, the film also stars Muthukumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, and Soundararaja, among others. As of Thursday, the seventh day of its release, the film has earned 7.30 crore from theatres in India, according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. The Dorothy box office collection in India has been remaining steady at around 80 lakh over the last three days. However, it remains to be seen how the film would fare at the box office going forward with several new releases in October first week.
