Director Pa Ranjith, who last helmed Thangalaan, is currently busy shooting for his next, Vettuvam. The film stars Arya and VR Dinesh in lead roles and Sobhita Dhulipala in a key supporting role.

Recently, Sobhita told Variety that the film is an "apocalyptic movie". Pa Ranjith confirmed the same and opened up about the film's genre and expected release window in a recent interview with SS Music following the trailer launch of Pandiraaj's Parimala and Co.

He said, "Vettuvam is almost complete, and we are planning to release the movie post-August. The film has turned out really well. I have built a new world in this film, and I hope the audience will like it. The film is packed with action and adventure. I have made this film as a blend of action and sci-fi, and I have high hopes that it will connect with the audience. We are planning to give viewers a completely new experience."

The cast also includes Kalaiyarasan, Mime Gopi, Guru Somasundaram, Shabeer Kallarakkal, John Vijay, Sai Dheena, Anand Saami, Harish Uthaman, Lizzy, Lingesh, Prem Kumar, Kavitha Bharathi, Arjun, Santha Kumar, Melody, Manisha, Nimmy, Raphael, Vikram, Naveen, and Prakash. Santhosh Narayanan Chenthilkumar and Franklin Jacob are credited as its co-writer and dialogue writer, respectively.

The first look poster of the film was released three years back at the Cannes Film Festival. As per previous reports on PTI, Vettuvam revolves around Cholan, a feared gangster who rises to power in the Ponni region of Tamil Nadu while earning a reputation as a champion of the common people. Revered by his followers and despised by his adversaries, he builds an empire rooted in loyalty and influence. As Cholan's dominance grows and conventional attempts to stop him fail, his enemies turn to the machinery of the state, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle that threatens everything he has built.

It is backed by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions and Learn & Teach Productions. The film has been at the centre of certain hot debates, including one concerning the tragic passing of its stunt performer Mohan Raj during production. GV Prakash is composing music for the film. A release date for the Vettuvam is yet to be announced.
