Suriya's latest film Karuppu has been having a successful run in theatres across India, minting over Rs 175 crore worldwide within a week of its release. The film, praised by fans and critics, has been described as a "comeback" for the actor. His wife and noted actor Jyotika too has been enjoying the success of Karuppu and had recently praised his performance, especially in the climax portions.
In a recent interview with Sudhir Srinivasan, Jyotika said, "In the last ten minutes of the film, Suriya had performed brilliantly. It's (the success) happened now and we're so overwhelmed and so happy with all the love. It's a celebration at home!."
Previously, Suriya expressed his gratitude to fans for the response to the RJ Balaji-directorial. In a video released on his social media handles, he said that he cannot thank the audience enough for the reception, especially after its delayed release. The actor wrote, "The love, name and fame we are getting from across the globe, goes to the entire cast and crew of Karuppu who believed and worked hard." He made special mentions of the film's producers SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures, cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan and composer Sai Abhyankkar.
Jyotika is currently on a promotional spree for her upcoming series System. The legal drama has been directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and releases on Prime Video on May 22. Sonakshi Sinha and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker also star in key roles it. It follows Neha (Sonakshi), a determined young lawyer, who takes on a challenge of winning 10 cases from her father (Ashutosh Gowariker) to be worthy of a partnership in his law firm. To pull it off, she recruits Sarika (Jyotika) - a street-smart courtroom stenographer, who harbors motives of her own. What follows is a fast-moving glimpse into intense courtroom battles, messy relationships, and some powerful moments. The film seems to be asking the question: In a system bowed towards power can justice prevail?
