Following the theatrical release of the recent spy thriller Mr X, on April 17, the Manu Anand directorial has now got an OTT release date. Streamer JioHotstar announced on its social media handle that the film, starring Arya and Gautham Ram Karthik, will release on its platform on May 14. Apart from Tamil, the film will also release in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

In addition to Arya and Gautham Ram Karthik, the film also stars Manju Warrier, Sarath Kumar, Athulyaa Ravi, Raiza Wilson, Jayaprakash, Kaali Venkat, and Anagha.

Mr X opened to mixed reviews upon its release from both audiences and critics. The plot follows a spy who goes against India's orders to execute its captured spy, thus uncovering a conspiracy that is likely to cause a third World War. In our Mr X review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "In such films, there is no point for guessing if the world will be saved… it is about the how, and even if Mr X doesn’t always hit the right notes, it never shies away from going all out with its imagination and creativity."

Mr X marked Arya’s return to Tamil cinema in a fully-fledged lead role after Kathar Basha Endra Muthuramalingam (2023). He has appeared in cameos in films like Thiru Manickam and The Boys. He had starred opposite Venkatesh in the Telugu film Saindhav (2024). His upcoming films include Pa Ranjith's Vettuvam, and the two will reunite for the sequel to Sarpatta Parambarai.
