A day after extending support to Vijay and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) amid the political uncertainty in the state over formation of government, Vishal has now shared his strong views on the possibility of a DMK-AIADMK alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Taking to social media, Vishal stated that if the government is formed by any alliance other than TVK, especially an “unimaginable” coalition between DMK and AIADMK, he fears the state could witness a “disastrous and catastrophic” outcome among the common public.
“If it’s not TVK and if it’s going to be anything else but the unimaginable/shellshocking combination of DMK/AIADMK alliance to form the next government, then I as a citizen and voter foresee a disastrous and catastrophic consequential turnout amidst common public. Will not go down well with anyone,” Vishal wrote.
Earlier, Vishal questioned why the governor was "hesitating" to give Vijay the chance to form the government. He drew examples from Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya and Karnataka elections in 2017-18 where the government was formed and then the members were asked to prove their majority in the floor test in the assembly. Along with him, several other celebrities and public figures have been openly sharing their opinions about the evolving political landscape in the state.
Despite emerging as the single largest party in the recent Tamil Nadu assembly elections with 107 seats, actor-turned-politician Vijay was unable to secure a majority. After finalising a post-election coalition with the Congress, taking his seat count to 113, Vijay sought a green signal to take the oath as the chief minister and prove his majority in the floor test. However, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, has rejected the same, citing doubt over the party proving a majority. Intense discussions have been ongoing between TVK top brass and its MLAs on the same with talks extending to other parties for coalition as well. However, a twist in a tale came when speculations regarding a possible ADMK-DMK alliance spread like wildfire. While the arch rivals are toying with the idea of a possible coalition, nothing has been confirmed yet.
Meanwhile, party sources have warned of a mass resignation from all its 107 MLAs if either MK Stalin’s DMK or Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK moves ahead to form the government.
