Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja and starring Dhanush, has had a marginal increase in its box office collection on Tuesday. According to the box office tracker Sacnilk, the film minted 2 crore from theatres in India yesterday, which is 20 lakh more than Monday. The increase in collection happened a day after the announcement of the results in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election.

This takes the overall box office collection of Kara to 31.34 crore (gross) and 27.15 crore (net), reports Sacnilk. The collection dropped significantly from 5 crore on Sunday to 1.8 crore on Monday, partly because all eyes were on the election results.

Kara Plot

Severe fuel shortages hit a coastal Tamil Nadu town amidst the Gulf War between the United States and Iraq. As oil depots burn globally, local supplies of diesel and petrol become scarce.

In the growing crisis, Karasamy (Dhanush), a local man known for abandoning a violent criminal past, revisits his old methods to navigate the shortage, breaking his past vows of reform. As Karasamy leads a mission to secure essential resources, he faces significant risk to safeguard and guide his community through the escalating instability.

Kara Cast And Crew

Besides Dhanush, the film stars Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Karunas, Jayaram, Sreeja Ravi, MS Baskar, Prithvi Pandiarajan, and Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others.

On the technical front, the film has composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor Sreejith Sarang, and art director Mayapandi.

Kara Reviews

The film has opened to mixed to positive reviews from critics and audiences. Many of the critics noted that, while the film is an engaging watch, it fizzles out at the end. Kara marks Dhanush's first collaboration with Vignesh Raja, known for helming the whodunnit Por Thozhil, starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan.
