Suriya: 'Tamil Nadu has great faith in my friend Vijay'

Suriya took to social media to congratulate his former co-star and politician Vijay on his victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections

Actor Suriya has joined the throes of film personalities who has conveyed their appreciation for actor-politician Vijay on his victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.

Taking to his X handle, Suriya wrote, "Receiving the love and support of the people is a blessing. Tamil Nadu has great faith in my friend Vijay. My heartfelt congratulations to him as he is about to begin a new chapter in Tamil Nadu politics."

Suriya and Vijay have starred together in the former's debut film, Nerukku Ner (1997), and in Friends (2001). Vijay had also appeared on the 2007 docudrama, Herova? Zerova? which was produced by Suriya.

Vijay has stood for the elections from the Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies, representing his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Vijay announced the party and his entry into his politics in 2023.
