Actor Rio announced this March that he is turning a producer with the banner River Route Studios and that the maiden project will be helmed by Kathiravan Sampath. The latest update is that the film has been titled Brown Mani.

The film features Ram Nishanth and JS Kavi in pivotal roles. Ram Nishanth has featured in the miniseries Kadhal Kottai (2022) and in the film Baba Black Sheep (2023). JS Kavi has starred in Athomugam and Soodhu Kavvum 2: Naatum Naatu Makkalum (2024).

The makers say that the film, shot in southern TN, captures "landscapes and cultural textures that add depth and relatability to its narrative." The film's shoot has been wrapped and has entered the post-production phase.

Describing the film, the makers say it is a "fun-filled family drama that revolves around the emotional and entertaining journey between two friends. With a blend of humor, warmth, and engaging storytelling, the film promises to strike a chord with audiences across all age groups."
