Bose Venkat compares Vijay contesting in two constituencies with Chiranjeevi

The actor-director has continued his tendency to make indirect digs at Vijay

Cinema Express Desk

Earlier this Sunday, we reported about actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay contesting for CM from multiple constituencies: Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East. Shortly after his announcement, many, including film personalities who are known for their political commentary, shared their views about it. For example, Bose Venkat compared Vijay's decision to Chiranjeevi contesting for CM from two constituencies in the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly: Tirupati and Palakollu. The move came soon after the popular actor launched his party named Praja Rajyam Party.

However, Chiranjeevi's party fared badly in the aforementioned elections. And while he eventually allied with and merged his party with the Congress, he quit politics many years down the line.

Bose Venkat reminisced about the massive appeal of the actor in Andhra Pradesh drawing in crowds in large numbers back in the day. However, he also noted how, despite the superstar's popularity, his party failed to get enough seats. According to Bose Venkat, Chiranjeevi's failure shows that one might not be successful in politics just because of their popularity in the film industry alone.

"Politics is one thing; cinema is another," he wrote in his post. While the actor-filmmaker did not mention Vijay in the social media post, he alluded to it. Interestingly, despite his latest views, Bose Venkat recently encouraged Suriya, his co-star in Kanguva, to get into politics. It is worth noting that, his encouragement to Suriya came shortly after Vijay announced his party, TVK, back in 2024.

Notably, the actor-filmmaker is linked with the ruling party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), as one of its supporters. Recently, he took potshots at Vijay for the superstar's criticism of the DMK.
