In the current state of Tamil Nadu's culture, cinema has been deemed to be in a symbiotic nature with politics and governance. Actors are often asked about their opinions on the current state of the world, or widely questioned about their entry into politics.

During a conversation with the press for his debut directorial Youth, Ken Karunaas, the son of actor-politician Karunaas, tackled a question about his potential entry into politics, light heartedly. "I won't get into politics. I am not associated with it in any manner," quipped the actor.

He added, "My father's life is different than mine. The things he saw while growing up are not the things I have seen while I did. So I don't have any idea for this."

Youth, which opened in theatres on March 19, is a comedy drama, that focuses on the last two years of Praveen's (Ken Karunaas) school life. Chronicling his failed attempts at romance, his adventures with his friends, and his relationship with his parents, the film has been received well by audiences.
