Filmmaker Vetri Maaran congratulated the team of Sirai on its astounding success at the success meet of the film.

Speaking about Sirai and his conversation with producer Lalith, he said, "I said that the film will be a commercial success and mentioned a number to which he said the film will earn triple that number. I was not sure, so I shared this conversation with the director Suresh Rajakumari. He, too, was confident that the film would earn that much. At the end, the film earned even more than what they expected. I am very happy for Suresh, and his understanding of Tamizh (writer) was the reason why he was able to deliver the film."

He went on to praise the maturity and sensibility of the Tamil audience. He said, "I am not sure if a film like Sirai would have had this much attention or success in any other industry other than Tamil. Only people in Tamil Nadu will receive a film like this one. Tamil cinema is the most evolved compared to any other."

The film opened to overwhelmingly positive responses from critics and audiences alike.

Sirai, starring Vikram Prabhu as the lead in his 25th feature, marked the debut of LK Akshay Kumar. The cast also includes I AM Kathalan actor Anishma Anilkumar in her Tamil debut, Ananda Thambirajah, and Remya Suresh, among others.

Sirai has a story by Taanakkaran fame Tamizh, which is based on the former police officer's real life, with the addition of fictional elements. Its technical team includes music director Justin Prabhakaran, editor Philomin Raj, and cinematographer Madhesh Manickam.
