Earlier this Wednesday, we reported about Tamizharasan Pachamuthu starting recce for his upcoming film with Dhanush. Sharing a monochrome photograph featuring himself at a temple, the Lubber Pandhu filmmaker wrote "recce" and D56 with hashtags. His post has sparked speculation about a delay in Dhanush's recently announced film with director Mari Selvaraj, as it was originally announced as the actor's 56th film. Amid the speculation, earlier this Wednesday, Dhanush quote tweeted Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's post with some fire emoticons, effectively confirming the project as his 56th film.
Having said that, the news about Dhanush collaborating with the Lubber Pandhu director is not new. The first announcement about it came from the filmmaker himself through a social media post.
Recently, Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures confirmed to Cineulagam that he is backing the film and that it would commence production this summer.
The upcoming film would only serve as Tamizharasan Pachamuthu's second film as a director. For the uninitiated, he is known for the cricket drama Lubber Pandhu, which proved a commercial success at the box office upon its 2024 release. According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, the cricket-based film, starring Harish Kalyan and VR Dinesh, among others, earned a collection of 47.25 crore at the global box office and is a superhit.
Beyond the project with Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, Dhanush's upcoming films include Kara with Por Thozhil director Vignesh Raja, an Ilaiyaraaja biopic with his Captain Miller director Arun Matheswaran, and an APJ Abdul Kalam biopic with filmmaker Om Raut.
