At the Kenatha Kanom pre-release event on Monday, Yogi Babu revealed that he was previously approached for late director Suresh Sangaiah's debut directorial venture, Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu.

He said, "Initially, I was the first choice for Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu, but I was deeply involved in comedy roles and lacked the confidence to take it up then. Today, I feel grateful to have done a meaningful film for him. He was committed to capturing every scene with realism. When his daughter spoke today, I could truly feel his presence."

Previously, JioHotstar unveiled a teaser in which Yogi Babu and the people of his village try all ways and means to bring rain and water to their drought-attacked land. When they finally come up with the idea of digging a well under Yogi Babu's house, they find the remains of a dinosaur rather than water. This puts their village under the lens of the archaeology department, making the situation worse. The teaser promises a fun-filled social commentary on drought and water scarcity.

Suresh Sangaiah, who breathed his last two years ago, had previously also helmed Sathya Sodhanai. Previously, speaking to CE about the film, he said, "Kenatha Kanom is set in a dry and barren village in the Ramanathapuram district and will revolve around the people in the area and speak about their struggles and their happiness. This film is close to reality and will hold an essential message for society."

The extended cast of Kenatha Kanom comprises Lovelyn Chandrasekhar, Ramakrishnan, Raichel Rabecca, George Mariyam, Rajendran, Kavitha Barathi, Kalaipandiyan, and Hello Kandasamy, among others.

The film is backed by R Ramesh Babu and Jegan Baskaran under the RB Talkies and Box Office Studio banners. On the technical front, the film will have music by Nivas K Prasanna, camera work by V Thiyagarajan, editing by R Ramar and art direction for PL Subentar. A release date for Kenatha Kanom is yet to be announced by the makers.
