Speculation surrounding the personal life of actor-turned-politician Vijay has intensified after social media users noticed a change in his son Jason Sanjay’s Instagram activity. Online chatter suggests that Jason may have unfollowed his father, prompting widespread discussion across fan pages. However, some users have pointed out that there is no clear evidence that he was following Vijay’s account earlier, leaving the claim unverified.

The renewed attention comes at a time when reports about Vijay and his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam’s marriage have been circulating. Sangeetha has reportedly filed a divorce petition at the Chengalpattu Family Court. The petition is said to include allegations that Vijay was involved in an “extramarital relationship with an actress". So far, neither Vijay nor Sangeetha has made an official statement addressing these claims.

Vijay, who recently floated his political outfit Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has consistently maintained privacy around his family life despite his high-profile public career. The current developments have therefore drawn significant curiosity from fans and media alike.

Sangeetha, of Sri Lankan Tamil origin, was raised in the United Kingdom. Before her marriage, she held British citizenship and came from a family with business roots in Sri Lanka; her father was reportedly an industrialist who later settled in the UK.

Her association with Vijay began outside the film industry. Following the success of Poove Unakkaga, she met the actor during a visit to Chennai’s Film City to congratulate him. Vijay later introduced her to his parents, filmmaker S A Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar. The couple tied the knot on August 25, 1999, in a traditional Hindu ceremony, followed by a reception in Chennai. Although Vijay is Christian and Sangeetha is Hindu, the wedding was conducted according to Hindu customs.

They have two children, born in 2000 and 2005. Over the years, the children have made brief appearances in Vijay’s films, including Vettaikaaran and Theri.

At present, the divorce reports and the social media speculation remain unconfirmed by the family. Until an official clarification is issued, the developments continue to be the subject of online debate rather than verified fact.
