A promotional event for Double Occupancy earlier this Thursday came with a surprise announcement of sorts. The film's producer Khusbhu Sundar revealed that discussions are underway for a Hindi remake of the film. "We are in talks to make this film in Hindi," Khusbhu said while revealing that the news has been communicated to its director and cast only then and there. "Let us see. You will get an official confirmation very soon," Khusbhu said about the Double Occupancy Hindi remake.
Directed by Aswin Kandasamy, the film stars Santhosh, Reshma Venkatesh, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Vinoth Kishan, and VTV Ganesh, among others. Khushbu produced it under her Avni Movies banner along with ACS Arun Kumar of Benzz Media.
The story follows Rajini (Santhosh) who lives their life as a female during the daytime and a male at night. However, concealing the truth about their life from their partners comes with a set of complications for Rajini.
The film has marked the debut of writer-director Aswin Kandasamy and Santhosh's first film in a lead role. Khusbhu said that she would not like to take any credit for the success of the film. Reflecting on its success, the producer revealed that her and her partner Sundar C's vision for Avni Movies is to make films that entertain the audience, making them feel that the films have given them value for money.
She added that the biggest indicator of a film's success is when people watch it with their families and come back feeling entertained by it. "That is the biggest success for us at Avni, and this team has given it us to us. I must thank the entire team for making this possible," Khusbhu said.
Interestingly, Khusbhu even had a small scene in Double Occupancy, which Samyuktha Viswanathan said was excellent but was cut out from the film.
