To celebrate GV Prakash's birthday and his milestone of composing music for over 100 films, playback singer Velmurugan, who has consistently sung in GV Prakash’s compositions, presented him with a gold chain engraved with the words “100 Films GV Sir” as a token of his affection and gratitude. Velmurugan’s daughter and music composer NR Raghunanthan were also present during the occasion.

Today, Velmurugan is known as a distinctive voice in Tamil folk-style playback singing. Although he had sung in a few films earlier, it was through the opportunity given by GV Prakash in the movie Aadukalam that he gained major recognition and visibility as a singer. That breakthrough not only opened up more film opportunities but also helped him become popular enough to tour internationally. Velmurugan says that the foundation laid by GV Prakash back then enabled him to sing over a thousand songs and sustain a 15-year-long journey in the music industry.

Speaking about the gesture, Velmurugan said, as per a press release, “Starting from Aadukalam and continuing through films like Saguni, Komban, Sema, Asuran, Yaanai, Veera Dheera Sooran, Thaandavam, Meendum Oru Kadhal Kadhai, Rebel and most recently the successful Parasakthi, he has continuously given me opportunities across 25 films and brought light into my life. Visiting and wishing my beloved composer was my way of expressing gratitude. If my family and I are living happily today, the reason is the opportunities he gave me; that is no exaggeration. I didn’t know how else to thank him. I simply expressed my love on his birthday. Meeting him today was a deeply happy experience.”

Some of Velmurugan’s popular songs composed by GV Prakash include 'Otha Sollaala' from Aadukalam, 'Pottadhu Pathala' from Saguni, 'Karuppu Nirathazhagi' from Komban, and 'Kathari Poovazhagi' from Asuran, among several successful tracks.

Last seen in Happy Raj, GV Prakash has a slew of projects in his pipeline as an actor, including Vekkai, Immortal, Mental Manadhil, Kadhalikka Yarumillai, and Idimuzhakkam, among others. On the music front, some of the big projects in his lineup include Vishwanath & Sons, Mandaadi and DQ41.
