The makers of Soori's upcoming film, Mandaadi, announced that the Mathimaran Pugazhendhi directorial will get a theatrical release on September 4. It is worth noting that the makers revealed that the film wrapped production in April this year.
Billed as a sea-based action drama, the film will focus on the sport peculiar to the 100-kilometre stretch of the Tamil Nadu coastline, and Mandaadi is the title for the leader of a fishing expedition team in this sailing boat race.
Apart from Soori, the film has Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Achyuth Kumar, Sachana Namidass, and Ravindra Vijay in central roles.
Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, which had bankrolled the Vijay Sethupathi-Soori starrer Viduthalai films by filmmaker Vetri Maaran, is producing Mandaadi. The film's technical crew includes music composer GV Prakash, cinematographer SR Kathir, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and stunt choreographers Peter Hein, Dilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew.
Soori, who made his debut as the lead in Viduthalai, last fronted Prasanth Pandiyaraj's family drama Maaman in 2025. The actor also has Ram's Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, opposite Nivin Pauly and Anjali, awaiting a release date.
