Jayaram and Urvashi's latest murder mystery thriller Parimala and Co, directed by Pandiraaj has completed its first weekend test at the box office and has emerged with nearly Rs 6 crore earnings after three days in theatres. After opening with Rs 1.6 crore, the film's collections increased to Rs 2 crore on day 2. On day 3, Sunday, Parimala and Co once again saw a rise in revenue and earned Rs 2.23 crore. This took its overall collections to Rs 5.83 crore.
While the film opened with massive anticipation for the story as well as for Jayaram and Urvashi as they were reuniting two decades after Panchathanthiram (2002), Parimala and Co, unfortunately, did not match the numbers it was aiming to gain. While audiences and critics praised the cast members' performances, the film was criticised for its screenplay and direction.
Parimala and Co follows the titular family caught in the mess after the reports of a gangster's death under mysterious circumstances. Following this, the family members suspect each other of committing it.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film read, "We have seen the Drishyams, the Koodi Vaazhndhaal Kodi Nanmais, the Kolamaavu Kokilas, the Doctors, and even last week’s release, Blast. Families finding themselves painted into a corner, and doing everything possible to get out of it, is a time-tested template, and yet… director Pandiraaj’s latest, Parimala and Co, does the one thing you shouldn’t do when it comes to making a whodunnit family drama. He makes things… boring."
Other members of the cast include Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Mysskin, Yogi Babu, Sandy, Santosh and Sobhan who are playing key roles.
The film's technical team comprises cinematographer George C Williams, music composer Foxn, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and stunt choreographer Kalai Kingson.
