This Tuesday, Ilaiyaraaja celebrates his birthday. While Ilaiyaraaja's birthday falls on June 03, he chooses to celebrate it a day before every year out of respect for former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, as the latter's birthday is also on the same day. Birthday wishes are pouring in for the musical maestro.

Tagging the composer in an X post, Kamal Haasan wrote, "Your music will live on for hundreds of times longer than your age. And you too should live a life that surpasses all our hopes and wishes, together with your music." Kamal starred in many films for which Ilaiyaraja composed music, including 16 Vayathinile, Nayakan, Raaja Paarvai, Apoorva Sagodharargal, Moondram Pirai, and Mahanadhi.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Vijay highlighted the composer's journey from his 1970s debut to his recent Valiant symphony. For the unversed, he became the first composer from Asia to present a Western classical symphony at the Eventim Apollo in London.

Vijay wrote, "Born in the village of Pannaipuram in Theni district, he began his musical journey with his brothers and entered the film industry through the movie Annakili. From there, he went on to achieve numerous milestones, including creating a world-renowned symphony, and has continued to reign as a towering figure in the world of music. Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has brought immense pride to Tamil Nadu through his extraordinary accomplishments."

Vijay added, "May your music continue to resonate for many more generations, serving as a guiding light and a source of inspiration. To you, who stand as a source of pride for Tamils everywhere, we extend our heartfelt love, respect, and warm birthday wishes."

He composed music for Vijay films such as Rajavin Parvaiyile, Chandralekha, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, Kannukkul Nilavu, and Friends.

Besides, former CM MK Stalin and scores of his fans wished the genius musician on his birthday.
