Venky Atluri's Vishwanath and Sons, starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju, and actor-director Vishal's Magudam are set to release on the same date, August 14, Friday. Ahead of their releases, New Surya Films have come onboard as the Kerala distributor for both films.

The banner announced the news regarding Magudam on Wednesday. In the caption, they wrote, "We're happy to announce that New Surya Films and Abhilash Pillai are the official Kerala distributors of Magudam / Makutam!"

On the other hand, earlier this Thursday, they announced the news about Vishwanath and Sons.

Vishal took over as the director of Magudam after Ravi Arasu exited the project. The story is still credited to Ravi Arasu. The film marks Vishal's directorial debut. The film also stars Anjali, Dushara Vijayan, John Vijay, Jayaprakash, Ajay, Vamsi Krishna, Abu Salim, Arjai, VJ Jhansi, Padam Kumar, and Sabhumon. The film is produced by B Suresh, RB Jeevan Choudary, Jithan Ramesh and Jiiva under the Super Good Films banner, as well as presented by the late RB Choudhary. It marks the 99th production venture of Super Good Films.

On the other hand, Vishwanath and Sons tells the story of a middle-aged adult (Suriya) and a woman (Mamitha Baiju) who is about half as old as him. It also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in important supporting roles. The film brings Raveena back to Tamil cinema for the first time after 2001's Aalavandhan, co-starring Kamal Haasan. The cast includes Nasser, Sudha, Kalyani Natarajan, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Rajiv Menon, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat, George Maryan, Hyper Aadhi, and Sarvadaman Banerjee.
