Several missing women. One key connect. This is the theme that connects the story of Niram, whose first trailer was released by the makers on Thursday. Directed by Krishna Balaram, the story revolves around how a case of multiple missing women rattles police officers.
Mugen Rao plays the lead in the tale as he goes hunting for clues behind the mystery. Preethi Asrani, who plays the female lead, seems to be portraying a medical student who also goes missing, with her father pleading police officers to find her. However, we understand from the two-minute-long glimpse that she is a formidable person and puts on a tough face in front of the kidnapper. Nitin Sathyaa looks to be playing the antagonist in the film. Tanya Hope also plays a key role.
Inspired by real-life events, Niram also features Surekha Vani, Suresh Chakravarthi, Sreejith Ravi, Thirunavukarasu, and Gajaraj in pivotal roles.
In an earlier interview with Cinema Express, director Krishna Balaram described Niram as a medical crime thriller. He said, "Niram is about the mercurial nature of humans, which is fused with a thriller that unravels in a medical college. So I have packaged the film with commercial aspects, not the kind of commercial people usually mean. The film discusses very commonplace matters like betrayal and moral greyness."
The technical team of the film comprises cinematographer Santanio Terzio, editor Sabu Joseph, and art director Dhamodharan. It is backed by KSquare Cinemas and co-produced by P Rajesh. Preethi Asrani has been having an eventful two years in her career as she had two back-to-back releases with Kiss in Tamil and Balti in Malayalam last year. Recently, she was seen in 29, opposite Vidhu. Up next, she is working on Killer, with SJ Suryah headlining and directing. Tanya Hope was last seen in Sundar C's Vallaan.
