Actor Vishal, who is now gearing up for his directorial debut, Magudam, has opened up about the three characters he has played in the film. Additionally, the actor-turned-director has also spoken about the themes of the film and has compared it to his 2018 film, Irumbu Thirai.

Speaking to Vikatan, he said about Magudam's plot, "There are so many things happening in society that we are unaware of. It was only after Irumbu Thirai released that people became more aware of issues like Facebook privacy and the hidden dangers of Android phones. Similarly, Magudam is built around another shocking and hard-hitting subject."

The actor stars alongside Anjali and Dushara Vijayan in Magudam. The actor will be seen in not one but three roles, apart from donning the director's hat. Speaking about the various characters, he said, "I've packed Magudam with plenty of surprises. I play three different characters in the film, each with a distinct look, body language and personality. One is a middle-class family man who works as a medical representative. Another is a gangster. The third is a die-hard Ilaiyaraaja fan. All three roles are unique in their own way."

John Vijay, Jayaprakash, Ajay, Vamsi Krishna, Abu Salim, Arjai, VJ Jhansi, Padam Kumar, and Sabhumon also star in Magudam, which is titled Makutam in Telugu. Composer GV Prakash Kumar reunites with Vishal, in Magudam, after Mark Anthony (2023). The crew of the film also includes directors of photography Richard M Nathan and Abinandhan Ramanujam, editor NB Srikanth, art director G Durairaj, and action choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan.

Super Good Films is producing the film with the late RB Choudhary as the presenter, while B Suresh, RB Jeevan Choudary, Jithan Ramesh and Jiiva are the producers. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
