Recently, we reported about Suriya being set to star alongside Kayadu Lohar in a film directed by TJ Gnanavel. The upcoming film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur of the Hombale Films banner. It reunites Suriya with Gnanavel for the first time after their critically acclaimed drama Jai Bhim (2021).

Earlier this Thursday, coinciding with Suriya's birthday, the banner and Gnanavel shared their heartfelt wishes to the actor. The producer wrote, "Warmest birthday wishes to THE ONE & only, @actorsuriya. A true powerhouse of talent, whose passion for cinema continues to inspire audiences across generations. Here's to many more years of remarkable performances and cinematic milestones. Looking forward to an extraordinary journey together." They tagged SuriyaXHombale in the post.

On the other hand, Gnanavel wrote on X, "To 'The One' who stands tall in both thought and action, @Suriya_offl, heartfelt birthday wishes from the entire #S48 team. May your string of successes continue to grow, and may those successes uplift others as well."

The upcoming project will mark the actor's 48th film. Beyond the tentatively titled Suriya 48, Hombale Films' upcoming slate includes Mahavatar Parshuram, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam, and a film with Hrithik Roshan. On the other hand, Suriya's upcoming films include a yet-untitled project with director Jithu Madhavan and Vishwanath and Sons with director Venky Atluri.

The project with Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan is set to mark the actor's 47th film. Reportedly starring Suriya as a police officer, it also features actors Nazriya Nazim and Naslen in key roles. On the other hand, Vishwanath and Sons stars Mamitha Baiju in the female lead, in addition to Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in supporting roles.
