Actor Suriya's upcoming Tamil-Telugu film Vishwanath and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri, is gearing up for its August 14 release. Earlier this Thursday, Primark Productions confirmed that it will distribute the film in Karnataka.
Making the announcement, they shared in the caption, "Another memorable journey begins… We are delighted to announce that Primark Productions' Lingasamy will be releasing Vishwanath and Sons across Karnataka. A heartfelt entertainer arrives in theatres on August 14th."
The update offers further confirmation about the film's release date amidst the slight uncertainty that might stem from the recent shuffling of Tamil films following the change in the Vijay starrer Jana Nayagan's release. Earlier set to release during the Pongal festival, Jana Nayagan will now hit theatres on July 23 instead. Following KVN Productions' announcement, films such as DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi and GV Prakash-Kayadu Lohar's Immortal have changed their release dates.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran of Captain Miller fame, DC is now set for an August 07 release, a week ahead of the Suriya starrer. Besides Suriya, the upcoming film features Mamitha Baiju in a lead role. The film tells a love story between a middle-aged adult and his younger lover. Vishwanath and Sons also has actors Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, and Yogi Babu.
The film comes hot on the heels of the blockbuster success of Suriya's Karuppu. According to reports, the film's streaming rights have been sold for more than 85 crore, and it has earned more than 300 crore in pre-release business. If the reports are anything to go by, this news would serve a major financial boost for the Suriya starrer ahead of its release. Besides the Suriya factor, reports suggest that the reason for the whopping pre-release business is Venky Atluri's successful track record, as the director of films such as Vaathi, starring Dhanush, and Lucky Baskhar featuring Dulquer Salmaan.
