On Wednesday, the makers of director PS Mithran's Sardar 2, starring Karthi, shared a poster offering a first look at Rajisha Vijayan's character in the film. The update coincided with Rajisha Vijayan's birthday. The film is produced by S Lakshman Kumar of Prince Pictures, along with Ishan Saksena, and co-produced by A Venkatesh. Sharing the poster, the makers wrote in the caption, "Many more happy returns of the day Rajisha Vijayan. May you be blessed with good health, happiness and more blockbusters."

Karthi is coming back for Sardar 2 as a spy named Chandra Bose. "Once a spy always a spy," reads one of the taglines for the film that the makers have used as part of social media promotions. The upcoming film is written by Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi.

Rajisha reprises her role as Indhrani in the Sardar sequel. The first look poster features her as a pregnant woman. The upcoming film also stars SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Yogi Babu, among others.

Production on Sardar 2 has been wrapped. The makers took more than 100 days to complete filming in multiple locations, including China and Cambodia. They are yet to disclose plot specifics. However, it is expected to continue Chandra Bose's story.

In Sardar, Karthi plays a dedicated police officer hellbent on overcoming the stigma of being labelled a traitor's son who unearths the old man's secret life, in addition to a major conspiracy.

On the technical front, Sardar 2 has composer Sam CS, cinematographer George C Williams, editor Vijay Velukutty, and stunt choreographers Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D'Souza.

The film has been scheduled for a September 10 release in theatres worldwide. Apart from Tamil, it is expected to hit theatres also with dubs in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
