Vijay's swansong Jana Nayagan is finally gearing up to open in theatres on July 23. The announcement was made after much anticipation on Wednesday. Given the scale and budget of the film, other Tamil releases scheduled for the day and the following week have been postponed.

Following the announcement, GV Prakash's Immortal, which was also slated for July 23 was postponed to September 4. Keerthy Suresh's Sathyavan Savithiri was also scheduled for July 24, postponement of which is also expected. The following week, Sigma, helmed by Jason Sanjay, and DC, helmed by Arun Matheswaran, were scheduled for release.

On Thursday, the makers of DC announced that the film has been pushed from July 31 to August 7. The announcement poster also revealed that the film, headlined by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, is certified 'A' by the CBFC. The film also stars Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Avinash Raghudevan.

DC marks Arun's fourth directorial after Rocky (2021), Saani Kaayidham (2022), and Captain Miller (2024). Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Picutres banner, DC has music by Anirudh, cinematography by Mukesh G, editing by GK Prasanna, and stunt choreography by PC Stunts.

Meanwhile, Lokesh Kanagaraj, who last made the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, will next direct Allu Arjun's tentatively titled AA23. Gabbi previously starred in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, and Rakul Preet Singh. In addition to DC, she also has Tiki Taka and Kuki Ki Kundli, among others.

Helmed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also stars Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Gautham Menon, and more. The film was initially slated for release on January 9 but was later postponed due to certification issues. Further, the film faced a major setback when it was leaked online on piracy sites. The film's issues have finally been resolved, and it is gearing up for July 23.
