Recently, a video surfaced online sparking speculation about whether Suriya's next film with writer-director Jithu Madhavan has wrapped production. Earlier this Thursday, Suriya's production banner Zhagaram Studios confirmed that principal photography on the upcoming film has been wrapped. The makers also announced that the film, tentatively titled Suriya 47, is set to release soon. They have also tagged Netflix India South in the announcement post, hinting where the film will go after its theatrical release.
Sharing the update through social media, the producer also dropped a making video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the film. The video offers a flashing glimpse of a dashing-looking Suriya sporting a sunglass. Besides Suriya, the upcoming film stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen. The film marks the first collaboration between the three actors, as well as the third project in director Jithu Madhavan's career and his directorial debut in Tamil.
Earlier in his career, Jithu delivered hits with the horror-comedy Romancham, featuring an ensemble cast, and the wacky entertainer Aavesham, starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead role.
It is worth noting that Jithu Madhavan also served as a writer on films such as Painkili and Balan: The Boy. Recently, Jithu revealed that Suriya 47 would be a film that caters to the sensibilities of the audience in Tamil Nadu. While the makers are yet to reveal plot specifics, reports suggest that Suriya stars in the film as an eccentric police officer who leads a team of cops that mirror his personality.
On the technical front, Suriya's 47th film has composer Sushin Shyam, who makes his debut in Tamil cinema with it. The film brings Sushin Shyam back together with Jithu Madhavan after collaborations on Romancham and Aavesham. He delivered highly appreciated soundtracks for both films, with tracks such as 'Aadharanjali,' and 'Aathmave Poo' from Romancham and 'Illuminati' from Aavesham topping the musical charts.
The makers of Suriya 47 are yet to offer further details about the project, including its additional cast and crew members and release date.
