Actor Prashanth, one of Tamil cinema's most charming stars, is once again winning over the internet. The actor has become the centre of a social media trend after his evergreen songs 'Anbe Anbe', 'Kadhal Kaditham' and 'Hai Rabba' were recently recreated in the fourth season of Dance Jodi Dance.
Appearing as a judge on the Zee Tamil reality show, Dance Jodi Dance season 4, Prashanth took audiences on a nostalgic trip by recreating 'Kadhal Kaditham' from his 1999 blockbuster Jodi with his co-star Simran. The duo's performance, recreating the beloved song nearly three decades after its release, has since gone viral across social media. On the same show, the Andhagan actor also danced with actor Sneha to 'Anbe Anbe' from Shankar's Jeans (1998). Sneha is one of the judges on the reality show.
Speaking exclusively to Cinema Express about the renewed popularity of his songs, Prashanth said, "I am elated to find Gen Z and Gen Alpha cherishing these timeless songs. I am glad that it has become a trend on social media."
The resurgence began even before the television performances. A promotional video from 1998 featuring a young Prashanth alongside director Shankar and co-star Aishwarya Rai during the promotions of Jeans had already gone viral on social media, introducing a new generation to the actor's screen presence.
With Jeans completing 28 years this year, fans have been hoping for a reunion featuring Prashanth, Aishwarya Rai and Shankar, especially after recent nostalgic reunions such as that of Ramarajan and Kanaka, who came together 37 years after Karakattakkaran. When asked if such a reunion could happen, Prashanth told Cinema Express, "We haven't thought about it yet. But I will definitely initiate a plan for a reunion."
On the professional front, Prashanth was last seen in The Greatest of All Time, starring Vijay, and most recently headlined Andhagan alongside Simran. He is currently shooting for Ranjan – The Advocate, directed by his father, veteran filmmaker-actor Thiagarajan. The team behind Andhagan will reunite for Ranjan, which marks the acting debut of Priyanka Rajakumaran, daughter of actor Devayani, and Hari, son of producer S Kadiresan of Five Star Creations. With music by National Award winning composer GV Prakash Kumar, the film also boasts of a large cast which includes Sathyaraj among others.
