On Friday, we reported about Dhanush starring in a film titled Thamizh Murugan, directed by Vetri Maaran. The project brings Dhanush and Vetri Maaran back together after collaborations on films such as Polladhavan (2007), Aadukalam (2011), Vada Chennai (2018), and Asuran (2019). It is written by Arivumathi, as well as produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films banner alongside Production Miles To Go.

The recently released glimpse video positions Dhanush's character as "The eternal protector, warrior, the king and lEADER of the Thamizh people and land."

Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi shared the official first look at Thamizh Murugan on his Instagram Stories space, sparking some speculation about his involvement in the project. The actor did not explain why he shared the glimpse video, leaving room for speculation about whether he is also part of it in any capacity. Cinema Express can confirm that the actor is part of the project. A source close to it has made the confirmation to CE. Wunderbar Films is expected to make Vijay Sethupathi's casting official with a formal post anytime soon.

It is worth noting that Vijay Sethupathi is also part of Vetri Maaran's upcoming film Arasan, co-starring Silambarasan TR. Arasan reunites him with Vetri Maaran after collaborations on the two Viduthalai films. Notably, Arasan is set in the same universe as Vada Chennai, starring Dhanush. Its screenplay is an iteration of the script that Vetri Maaran had written when Silambarasan TR was in negotiations to star in Vada Chennai. Later, Dhanush replaced him in Vada Chennai.

Coming back to Thamizh Murugan, the upcoming film has music by Sai Abhyankkar, one of the most popular composers in Tamil cinema today. Notably, Sai Abhyankkar's work for Karuppu, another devotional film, starring Suriya, has been receiving much appreciation from the audience ever since its release in theatres.
