Education takes centrestage in the first trailer of Arulvaan, where a brave young tribal girl takes the first step to approach her district collector to bring education to the mountains her community lives in. Arulnithi plays the collector who is on a mission, battling odds to keep the promise he made to the young girl. At one point, Ramya Pandian, who portrays a woman from the region says, "Even if one person from our clan was educated, we wouldn't be facing exile from our own land."
The nearly two-minute-long trailer of the film, inspired from a true story, establishes a gripping narrative with a heartwarming story. According to the makers, Arulvaan will be "raw, emotional, and hard-hitting."
Aarav, Baby Krithika, Kaali Venkat, VTV Ganesh, and John Vijay, among others round out the cast of the upcoming film, directed by Ganesh Vinayakan.
Ganesh Vinakayan made his directorial debut with Thagaraaru in 2013, which also starred Arulnithi in his fourth outing. He then helmed Veera Sivaji, starring Vikram Prabhu, in 2016 and a Kannada film titled Hyper in 2018. His latest directorial is the 2021 film Thaen, headlined by Tharun and Abarnathi. Arulvaan marks the director's fifth venture and a reunion for the director and actor after 13 years.
Arulvaan is backed by SG Saravanan of 90 Pictures Production Private Limited and co-produced by Subha Saravanan. The film will feature music by GV Prakash, cinematography by M Sukumar, and editing by Lawrence Kishore.
Arulvaan will open in theatres on July 17.
