Amidst all the 'Thambi Thappu' (Brother, this is wrong) memes and references online, actor-cinematographer admitted that he has been to court after breaking the law unknowingly in his younger days. In a conversation with CE about his upcoming film Dark, the actor said that he stood on the footboard of a bus during his school days. "In my life, I have been to court twice. Once, I got late to class and rushed into a moving bus. There was so much rush in the bus, so I could not move beyond the footboard. Police took me away for it. One should not do that," Natty, who played a judge in Karuppu, recalled.

The actor said that police also took some of the other schoolkids who broke the law in the same way to the court.

He added, "When the judge saw me, he asked asked me, "Thambi, ennappa panne (Brother, what did you do?). I told him that I got late to school and travelled by standing on the footboard. He told me it was wrong to do so, and I explained why I did it. He then told me not to repeat it and asked me to pay Rs 10 as penalty. I only had Rs 1 with me and that was for me to travel back home. Eventually, he said that he would pay it himself and let me go with a warning."

Natty said that he was also fined for travelling on a bike without a helmet. He added that police asked him whether someone known such as him should commit this kind of an offence. "I had to pay Rs 150 as penalty for it," the actor recalled.

Interestingly, these experiences helped Natty appreciate the legal intricacies behind the film Karuppu in a better way than he otherwise would have. "I had so much trust in the story," the actor said about his film with RJ Balaji and Suriya.
