A few weeks ago, Natty found himself at the centre of widespread trolling after commenting, "Thambi thappu" ("Brother, this is wrong"), on an X user's post. The remark quickly went viral, spawning hundreds of memes and drawing a barrage of online abuse. The actor-cinematographer has now broken his silence, addressing the backlash and the hate that followed his comment.
In a recent interview Natty opened up saying how he was at the receiving end of severe abuse on his X handle. "When you know me and speak, it is okay, but I don't know any of these people. He knows me, but he is coming online with a fake ID and abusing me with bad words. I can't even say those words publicly. When someone posts such horrible things about me and my family, I just told him 'Thambi thappu' ("Brother, this is wrong") don't behave in this way, but everyone made that viral. Nobody is questioning the abuser, but they are commenting on my statement," he explained.
At one point, Natty, after facing relentless trolling and abuse, commented strongly saying, "If any uses abusive language.. I'll repeat as they wish (sic)." In yet another post, he emphasised the same, giving an ultimatum to those who indulge in the behaviour. "Last call.. If anyone abuses me, I'll abuse u back. No matter what happens," he wrote, courting controversy and triggering debates online.
The abuse also began after the theatrical and OTT release of his latest film TN 2026, a political satire in which he plays Kulkanth Kumar, a superstar actor navigating a rise in the political arena, which many viewers interpreted as a satire of Vijay's entry into politics.
On the work front, Natty was recently seen in Karuppu as Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rajanayagam. Directed by RJ Balaji, the Suriya-starrer was a major commercial success at the box office. Earlier this year, Natty was also seen in Mohan G's Draupathi 2 and Vemal's Vadam.
Up next, he is playing a key role in Dark, directed by Kalyan K Jegan, with story written by Ganesh K Babu (Dada). It hits theatres on July 3.
