Earlier this Wednesday, the makers of the GD Naidu biopic announced that Karan Johar's distribution company, Dharma Productions, has joined hands with the project. Dharma Productions is set to distribute the film GDN, starring R Madhavan and directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, in theatres across Karnataka and North India, the makers revealed.

Varghese Moolan Pictures expressed their gratitude to Karan Johar's studio for their involvement in the film. "Super excited to share that Dharma Productions is presenting and distributing this incredible story across theatres in Karnataka and North India. This journey gets even bigger from here," the producer shared.

Going by Dharma Productions' information on Wikipedia, GDN is only the third Tamil film that the company is distributing. Earlier, they distributed films such as 2.0, starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, and the recent Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kaantha.

The latest announcement comes hot on the heels of Dharma Productions joining hands with Prithviraj Productions for the upcoming film Odiyan, directed by Rahul Sadasivan of Bhoothakaalam and Bramayugam fame and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Manju Warrier. It is worth noting that Odiyan marks the Malayalam debut of the production house.

Coming back to the GD Naidu biopic, the film also stars Priyamani, Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Dushara Vijayan, Thambi Ramaiah, Vinay Rai, and Yogi Babu. It brings Madhavan back together with Varghese Moolan Pictures following their collaboration on the 2022 Nambi Narayanan biopic Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Besides starring in the film as the titular inventor, fondly known as the 'Edison of India,' Madhavan is also producing it with Sarita Madhavan under their Tricolour Films banner.

With music by Govind Vasantha and cinematography by Aravind Kamalanathan, the film has wrapped its production. It is set for a July 17 release in theatres.
