It was speculated last November that Gopuram Cinemas has stepped back from the production duties of D55

In a major reshuffle in Dhanush and Rajkumar Periasamy's upcoming film, tentatively titled D55, the actor's Wunderbar Films, in association with RTake Studios, has replaced Gopuram Cinemas as producers.

It is worth noting that in November of last year, speculation about Gopuram Cinemas stepping back surfaced on social media platforms. RTake Studios was the banner behind the 2022 film Salaam Venky, directed by veteran actor Revathi, starring Kajol and Vishal Jethwa. Wunderbar, which was launched in 2012 with 3, went on to produce Ethir Neechal, Velaiilla Pattadhari, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Kaala, Vada Chennai, and last backed Idli Kadai.

Last seen in Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein, alongside Kriti Sanon, Dhanush has Kara, with Vignesh Raja of Por Thozhil fame, awaiting a release date.

Rajkumar Periasamy, meanwhile, delivered a hit with Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Geetha Kailasam, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose, in 2024. The film, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, was produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), which was earlier rumoured to bankroll D55 with Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films.
