We had previously reported that actor Ken Karunaas' upcoming debut directorial has been titled Youth. The film's name was revealed on the occasion of the Pongal festival where a first look as well as a release window was revealed. For the unversed, the film borrows its title from Vijay's 2002 film, which was directed by Vincent Selva. Overwhelmed by the love poured by Vijay fans for his film, the actor-director took to his social media handles to express his gratitude to them.
"Heartfelt thanks to all Thalapathy sir’s fans for the overwhelming support and wishes for our first look Youth . Exciting updates soon!" he wrote. Apart from writing and directing the film, Ken also leads the cast of the film.
While sharing the title last week, Ken wrote, "Having grown up in awe of Thalapathy Vijay sir’s screen presence, embarking on my cinematic journey with the timeless title Youth feels both profound and deeply personal." He further added that his film will be a "humble endeavour" to honour the legacy of the title.
Billed as a fun entertainer revolving around school life, the cast also features Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anishma Anil Kumar, Devadarshini, Meenakshi Dinesh, and Priyanshi Yadav. The film is currently in its post-production stages with a release scheduled in February.
Ken, Vignesh Srikanth, and Eshwar Santhanalakshmi are writing lyrics for the film. The technical crew of Youth includes GV Prakash as the composer, Viki as the cinematographer, Nash as the editor, and Ramu Thangaraj as the editor.
The upcoming film is produced by Karuppiah C Ram, Sulochana Kumar, and Kali Rajkumar. Paarvathaa Entertainments and Street Boy Studios are producing the film.
