As Jana Nayagan's release is currently delayed, the film's OTT future also hangs in the balance. The film was initially set to release on January 10, and before its release the Central Board of Film Certification moved to send the film to another committee after a complaint was filed.

A member of the advisory committee, which examined the film in December 2025, filed a complaint accusing the film of being against certain religious sentiments, and also not having consulted the sections of the Indian armed forces, for which the logos have been used.

Recently, the Madras High Court reserved orders in its hearing of an appeal filed by the CBFC, after a single judge directed the CBFC to issue a certificate for Jana Nayagan.

With the continuing uncertainities with the film's release, Amazon had reportedly informed the producers that legal action will be taken against the producers, reported The Hindustan Times.
