Jiiva expresses his gratitude to audience reception for Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil

Following the release of his film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, actor Jiiva took to social media to share a note expressing his gratitude to audiences for their "wonderful responses" to the film. The actor shared his delight at starting the New Year with a film that is close to his heart. Interestingly, he described the film's director Nithish Sahadev as "a talented filmmaker who hails from your own hometown." While Nithish is born in Thiruvananthapuram and spent his early years there, he later went to the Chennai Film Industrial School. Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil marks Nithish's first film after 2023's Falimy, starring Basil Joseph, Jagadish, Sandeep Pradeep, and Manju Pillai.

"I sincerely invite everyone to watch the film in theatres and share your valuable feedback with us. As always, I remain deeply grateful for your continued love and support," the actor wrote, concluding his note.

Jiiva plays a Panchayat President in the film, which also stars Ilavarasu, Thambi Ramaiah, Prathana Nathan, and Jenson Dhivakar. According to Sacnilk, the film has fared well at the box office on Thursday, its release day, having earned a net collection of 1.3 crore from theatres in India. So far on the second day of its release, the has earned a net collection of 0.42 crore at the India box office. Information about its worldwide box office collection is yet to be available.

Meanwhile, critics and audiences have generally been appreciative when it comes to the film, with some even calling it a 'Pongal winner'. The film hit theatres as one of the many Pongal releases in Tamil Nadu, also including Sivakarthikeyan-Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi and Karthi-Nalan Kumarasamy's Vaa Vaathiyaar.
