According to the netizens, the fact that they attended Pongal celebrations at the minister's residence goes against the film's core element opposing Hindi imposition. This has especially been the sentiment after Modi did not mention Pongal in his speech.

According to netizens, Modi intentionally did not mention Pongal in his speech, partly due to the state's opposition against the idea of making Hindi as the national language, especially that of trying to enforce it on people. The stance is part of the state's long-standing opposition against Hindi imposition and is an important aspect of the state's cultural and political landscape. While the film itself does not directly criticise the BJP, its core plot element of a revolution against Hindi imposition allegedly goes against the party's idea of making India a Hindi-speaking nation.
