Suresh Krissna took to social media to write about Baasha, on the film's 31st anniversary. The film led by Rajinikanth, also starring Nagma and Raghuvaran, was released in 1995.
Taking to his X handle, director Suresh wrote, "31 Years of Baasha. A phenomenon crafted by many legends. Rajinikanth — MASS redefined. Music that roared by Deva. Words that struck gold by Vairamuthu. A towering villain — Raghuvaran. Grace & glamour — Nagma"
The film followed a former gangster, who leads a quiet life after a dying promise binds him to live straightforward. He is forced to get back into the underworld, after an old foe returns to wreak havoc.
The performances of Rajinikanth and Raghuvaran was recieved very well, with some dialogues of the characters finding its way into popular culture of different generations. The film's music which was composed by Deva, was also recieved well by fans, with numbers like 'Naan Autokaaran' and 'Ra.. Ra.. Ramaiya' being chartbursters.
