As the news of Tourist Family entering the Oscar race broke, some members of the film took to social media to celebrate the news. Tourist Family is amongst the films contending for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Taking to her X handle, star Simran wrote, "Dreams do travel far. Proud to be part of #TouristFamily, now in contention for Best Picture."

Meanwhile, music composer Sean Roldan wrote, "A proud moment for all of us."

Starring Sasikumar, Mithun Jai Shankar, Kamalesh Jagan, Bhagavathi Perumal, Ramesh Thilak, MS Bhaskar, Elango Kumaravel, among others, Tourist Family was the directorial debut of Abishan Jeevinth, who made his directorial debut. Abishan also appeared in a small role in the film.

Releasing on April 30, the film opened to highly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

Beyond Tourist Family, Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 and Mahavatar Narasimha are also in the race for the Oscar for Best Picture.
