Actor Silambarasan TR is the latest member from the film fraternity to come out in support of Vijay in the wake of the actor-politician's swansong, Jana Nayagan, getting delayed due to censorship issues.

In his X handle, STR wrote, "Dear Vijay anna, setbacks have never stopped you. You’ve crossed bigger storms than this. This too shall pass, real Thiruvizha begins on the day #Jananayagan releases." (sic)

Notably, Vijay has bailed STR out of financial trouble that delayed the release of the latter's Vaalu (2015). Also, Silambarasan TR has sung 'Thee Thalapathy' in the Vijay starrer Varisu (2023).

For the unversed, KVN Productions, the banner backing the H Vinoth directorial, approached the doors of the Madras High Court over the CBFC 'unduly stalling' the procedure to provide the film a certificate. The CBFC, in its defense, said that its members are empowered to refer the film to a new panel as it contained usage of symbols of the Indian Armed Forces without approval. However, the makers assert that they weren't informed about it and that they did not hear from the certification authority's regional office once they sent another version complying with the cuts suggested.

The matter is in the court, and a verdict is expected to be delivered on January 9, the date the film's release was originally planned.

Jana Nayagan marks the first collaboration between Vijay and H Vinoth. The action thriller, whose trailer suggests it is inspired by the Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari, is also expected to serve as a proper launchpad for Vijay's full-fledged political career with his outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in the upcoming State Assembly elections.
